Enabling P2P Energy: A Look at the Challenges and How to Solve Them

Slides:

A low-carbon future is needed for a variety of reasons. One puzzle piece in accomplishing this are P2P Energy Markets which enable Prosumers (people both consuming as well as producing electricity) to trade their excess electricity with their neighbors and friends. This process alone has multiple advantages: we can use the already existing infrastructure more efficiently, incentivize local energy production and help raise acceptance levels, as studies show. In this presentation, we will take a look at how Smart Meters, OLI Technology and DLTs turn this idea into reality.

What will the audience learn from this talk?
We will take a look at the main pain points of the energy sector and the limits of its backbone. The audience will also learn about the challenges – from technology to regulation – on the way to a decentralized peer-to-peer energy future and how to overcome them.

Does it feature code examples and/or live coding?
We will take a look at a few lines of code.
